Does the Saxophone player know
how it is to meander along
and around a lazy tune?
Or is it that they blow
a cacophony of notes
that tumble angrily,
sometimes in competition
with the solidity of bass,
the essence of rhythm,
the steady chords?
What of the twisted melody
these solo players torture
from instruments
born of fire and spit?
